Teaching people, especially children while they are young, how things work and why they work is very important. I think we take for granted how blessed we are with being able to flip a light switch on and have all the light we need. Not everyone has that luxury in the world. I believe teaching people how that works, the whole process of something we find as simple as a light bulb lighting up is important. It might help keep us grounded, have more respect for other professions, and see the beauty in things that wouldn't be here without the education and learning behind it all.
That's why I'm raising funds to support the Discovery Center of Springfield. It is our nonprofit, community funded science center that turns kids playing today into adults leading tomorrow’s workforce through hands-on, experiential learning.
